1971: An F-4 weapon system officer, Capt Jeffrey S. Feinstein, shot down his fifth MiG-21 to become the third and final ace of the Vietnam War. For this feat, Feinstein shared the 1972 Mackay Trophy with Captains Richard S. “Steve” Ritchie and Charles B. DeBellevue. Feinstein used an AIM-7 missile to down his fifth North Vietnamese Mig-21. Since then, there have been no new aces.
