1918: Piloting a Nieuport 28 from the 94th Aero Squadron, Lt Alan F. Winslow and Lt. Douglas Campbell shoot down two German fighters in a heated ten-minute air battle over Toul Airdrome. Campbell is the first pilot in the American sector to down an enemy aircraft.
