SON TAY RAID
1970:  A special USAF and Army task force volunteers tried to rescue American servicemen from the Son Tay prisoner-of-war camp 20 miles west of Hanoi. Unfortunately, the prisoners had been moved elsewhere. Despite rescuing no prisoners, the raid proved a success in other ways. It caused North Vietnam to gather POWs in fewer locations to prevent similar raids, making POW communication and organization easier. POW morale began to improve after the attempted rescue.
