The first meeting of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA.) in the Office of The Secretary of War April 23, 1915. Brig. Gen. George P. Scriven was elected as the temporary Chairman of the NACA.
 
1915: The Advisory Committee for Aeronautics is established by Congressional approval as part of the Naval Appropriations Act. Later renamed to include the word “National” in its title, the NACA would lead the integration of theoretical aeronautical science to practical applications for the next four decades.
