1939: Maj Caleb V. Haynes flies the newly developed XB-15 bomber on a flight to Santiago, Chile, from Langley Field, Va., via Panama, in 29 hours 53 minutes with 3,250 pounds of medical supplies for earthquake victims there. For their flight, the crew received the Mackay
