In 1947, 5-star General Hap Arnold wrote about INTEGRITY. Here is a summary:
“Personal Integrity also means Moral Integrity. Regardless of what appears to be some superficial ideas of present-day conduct, fundamentally, today as always, the one who is genuinely respected is the one who keeps moral integrity sound, who is trustworthy in every respect, and trusts both self and others.”
The AFHF President’s Medal for Integrity First is awarded only for the highest levels of integrity in action and outcome during a lifetime of service in the USAF or USSF and is awarded at the discretion of the AFHF Board President.
In 2023, General Ronald Fogleman was the inaugural recipient of the AFHF President’s Medal for “Integrity First.” To learn more about Gen. Fogleman’s character and moral compass, review this article by Richard Kohn. The article recounting Gen. Fogleman’s early retirement was reprinted in the 2023 Summer Journal of the AFHF on page 109.
