On This Day in History / July 10, 2024 1965: Two 45 TFS aircrews flying McDonnell-Douglas F-4C Phantom IIs 0ut of Ubon RTAFB, used Sidewinder missiles to shoot down two MiG-17s some 75 miles northwest of Hanoi. These were the first enemy jets confirmed shot down in air-to-air combat over North Vietnam by a USAF crew. By 1966, the F-4s were camouflaged like #2 in the formation.
