1915: The First Aero Squadron, under the command of Captain Benjamin Foulois (left), joins Gen John J. Pershing (right) during the search for Pancho Villa in Mexico. Sporting only a handful of underpowered Curtiss JN-2 Jenny aircraft (modified as JN-3s), Foulois and his small force arrived in Columbus , NM , the site of one of the hostile raids, and began flying reconnaissance missions in support of Pershing’s forces.
