2002: NASA launched the Space Shuttle Atlantis on STS mission 112 to install the S1 Truss to the new International Space Station.  On 18 October, the shuttle returned and landed at the Kennedy Space Center.  The crew included Capt Jeffrey S. Ashby (USN), commander; Col Pamela Ann Melroy (USAF), pilot; and David A. Wolf (ANG), Sandra H. Magnus, Piers J. Sellers, and Fyodor Yurchikhin as mission specialists.   Ashby, Melroy, and Wolf made their third flights into space on this mission, while Magnus, Sellers, and Yurchikhin were making their first flights.
