On This Day in History / February 10, 2023 1993: 1st Lieutenant Jeannie Flynn graduates from F-15E RTU and becomes the Air Force’s first woman fighter pilot. Most recently, Jeannie Marie Leavitt (née Flynn) is a USAF major general. She was also the first woman to command a USAF combat fighter wing. In April 2021, she was appointed as Chief of Safety, United States Air Force, and assumed office on August 13, 2021.
