1999: An F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter is lost due to ground fire near Belgrade. This is the first combat casualty during the F-117s history. A-10 pilot Captain John A. Cherrey locates the downed pilot who is rescued that same day. Cherrey receives the Silver Star for his actions.
