1985: Major Doug Pearson launched the ASM-135 missile armed with the Miniature Homing Vehicle from his F-15 out over the Western Test Range and successfully shot down the Solwind P78-1 satellite flying at an altitude of 345 miles. It was the first successful test of the F-15 Anti-satellite System.
